ASMSU Scholarship for Student Leaders

Spring 2011 Application for 2011-2012 Awards

Established in 1965, the Associated Students of Michigan State University is the undergraduate student government. ASMSU serves the undergraduate student body through a student-voted fee, and provides many valuable services to all MSU students such as legal counsel, loans, representation on academic and non-academic issues affecting undergraduate student life at MSU. ASMSU also provides the undergraduate student body with free yearbooks, scholarships, blue books, copies and faxes, funding for student organizations as well as special events throughout the academic calendar to enrich the campus community.

In 2010 ASMSU established the ASMSU Scholarship for Student Leaders as a means to support undergraduate students who exhibit active educational and professional leadership throughout the university community and helps ensure that the financial demands and impacts on these students are minimized.

This spring, eight scholarship awards of $3,000 for fall semester 2011 through spring semester 2012 will be granted.

Dear 2011 Alternative Spring Break Students:

I hope that you are adjusting to life back on campus well after your ASB experience! I just wanted to take a second to remind you about the survey I e-mailed you about a week ago. If you have already completed the survey online, thank you! If you have not yet had a chance to do so, I hope that you will consider taking a few minutes to fill out this survey. Your responses will be kept confidential, and will provide valuable information into how we can improve these programs in the future.

All of the information for the survey is in my initial e-mail (below). The web address for the survey is:

https://survey.ssgi3.com/Collector/Survey.ashx?Name=NSAB2011

All students who complete this survey and provide a valid e-mail address will be entered into a drawing to win a $200 Amazon.com gift card. Approximately 2000 students from 100 institutions will be participating in this survey.

If you have started the survey but did not get a chance to finish, if you log back on using the same computer you should be able to pick up the survey where you left off before.

If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Niehaus at the University of Maryland at AlternativeBreakSurvey@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Also, ASB will be selling fair trade goods during the reorientation event.
This is a fundraiser that will help reduce the cost of ASB programs and trips. The jewelry, bags, and scarves come from Sharing the Dream in Guatemala, an organization that promotes fair trade with cooperatives and small businesses in Guatemala. The organization is committed to providing fair wages and employment opportunities to low-income artisans. Items range from $10-$40.
Check out the website to get an idea of the different crafts you can buy as gifts for friends, family members or yourself!
